Frequently Asked QuestionsCan I put plastic doggy bags inside your Buckets?
No, unfortunately we do not accept plastic doggy bags (even if they are biodegradable) or any kind of garbage (including toys, bones, large sticks or rocks, dead animals etc.) inside our Buckets. So if you happen to pickup doggy doo with plastic bags, we require that you dump the poop out of the bag and into our Bucket, and discard the bag separately. We only accept dog and cat waste inside our Buckets. How can I prevent Maggots from getting inside my Bucket? Great question! When the weather turns warmer, flies will lay their eggs onto and inside fresh doggy doo. So the absolute best way to ensure that flies and maggots are not attracted to your Bucket is to make sure to pickup your dog's waste immediately after they go to the bathroom and place it inside your Bucket and close the lid immediately. Whenever maggots are present, it is because the dog waste has been left out in the yard and flies have had time to locate it and lay their eggs onto/inside the dog waste, and that's when/why you will notice maggots inside your Bucket. So, pickup the dog waste immediately after your dog does his/her business, place it inside the bucket and put the lid on, and keep your bucket stored in a shaded area of your yard so that it is not exposed to the sun, and this will prevent maggots from getting inside your Bucket. My dog is friendly, can he/she be in the yard when you're performing the service? No, unfortunately not. If we had a nickel for every "friendly" dog that we have been attacked by, we would have retired many years ago! Please make sure that your dog is not in your yard on your scheduled pickup day and time. Doggy Doo will not render the service if dog(s) are present in the yard and it may result in a cancellation of service if your dog is always in the yard when we come by to service your yard. (sorry for the inconvenience) Do you accept clay-based clumping or scented cat litter? No, unfortunately we do not accept clay-based clumping or scented cat litter. We only accept environmentally friendly based cat litters that are non-scented such as wood chips, saw dust, wheat, corn, vegetable products, and recycled newspaper to name a few. The kitty litter can be clumping, just as long as its not clay based. What forms of payment do you accept? We accept Visa/MasterCard, Pre-Authorized Debit, Cheques, Cash, Online Banking if you bank with Scotiabank, Bank of Montreal or any Credit Union of BC, and Email Money Transfers. When will I be invoiced for my services? Billing is done monthly in advance of service. We send out invoices to all of our customers between the 10th - 15th of each month, for services to be rendered the following month. All payments to Doggy Doo should be made by month end (30th or 31st) in order to ensure that there will not be a disruption in the service being rendered. All credit card and pre-authorized debit payments are processed on the 28th day of each month. Can I pre-pay for more than 1 month of service? Yes, you can pay for as many months as you'd like. We offer a 5% discount if you pre-pay for 1 year of service or more. Do you charge NSF fees? Yes we do charge a $25 NSF fee for payments that are returned to us as NSF. Are there any contracts to sign? No, there are no contracts to sign and you can cancel at any time. How will I know if someone has serviced my yard? Aside from the fact that there will be no dog waste sitting in your yard, we also leave "Doggy Doo was here today" tags containing a small pork liver treat at your doorstep after each day of service to let you know that we were there. Do you still offer service in the winter months? Yes, we offer services year round rain or shine. Do I need to be present at the time of service? No, as long as we can have access to the area that requires the dog waste removal nobody needs to be present. Where do you dispose of the doggy doo? We transport it to the Iona Wastewater Treatment Plant where it is treated and disposed of as per GVRD regulations - we don't just put it inside your garbage bin! If I forget to leave my Bucket out for collection on my scheduled pickup day, do I still get charged for a day of service? Yes, we still charge for a regular day of service if you forget to leave your Bucket out for collection on your scheduled day of service. We will still leave an extra Bucket for you even if you forget to leave your Bucket out for pickup (so you don't have to open your old Bucket) and we'll collect both Buckets on your next service day. Whenever you plan on taking a vacation, let us know and you will not be charged for days that you'll be away (just don't forget to let us know in advance). Are you insured with WorksafeBC? Yes, we are registered and have coverage with WorksafeBC. Why should my dog's waste be picked up frequently? Dog waste is not only an annoying problem, it can also be hazardous to both your dog's and your health. Dog poop can contain many types of harmful parasites and diseases such as: hookworms, roundworms, tapeworms, heartworms, whipworms, Salmonella, E-coli, Giardia, and Canine Parvovirus to name a few. Some of these can be passed on to humans and cause a whole host of health problems including cramping, diarrhea, intestinal illness, and serious kidney disorders. When dog waste that is infected with roundworms, hookworms, and other parasites is left on the ground, eggs from these parasites can bury themselves in the ground and remain there for years. This makes it possible for your dog to become reinfested over and over again. Moreover, picking up your dog's waste frequently will reduce the chance that you or your dog will step in the doggy doo and track it into your house or vehicle, and it helps to keep unpleasant odours to a minimum! Do I get a discount for having a smaller dog? No, we do not offer discounts for smaller dogs because its a lot harder to locate and scoop smaller dog poop than it is to locate the doggy doo from a larger dog. How long have you been in business? We've been helping thousands of Metro Vancouver pet owners properly dispose of their dog and cat waste since 2007. |
